Pfizer said the drug has already launched a Viagra-style tablet in New Zealand in 2018. The Viagra tablet is marketed as a treatment for erectile dysfunction, but the name change is expected to help people to take it, said Pfizer spokesman Tony Hyman. The drug was designed as a tablet taken at a fixed time for a man’s sexual activity, while the treatment has been available to buy over the counter in New Zealand. It will be available in pharmacies, on the NHS and, in some states, through drugstores.
The company says it has started to sell Viagra in New Zealand from March 2024 and is planning to launch the generic version in the U. S. next year.
